Calif. Resident Kills Intruder During Home Invasion

--Morse said that at 3:29 a.m.officers responded to reports of shots fired on Haven Court off Greenhaven Drive in the Pocket neighborhood of Sacramento.
Upon arrival, Morse said, officers quickly discovered that an exchange of gunfire had occurred between the homeowner and would-be robbers.
One of the intruders was fatally wounded and pronounced dead at the scene by Sacramento Fire Department personnel, Morse said. Three others, including the homeowner, were shot during the exchange of gunfire and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The three were transported to a hospital for treatment.
--"There were some juveniles in the home who didn't live there, but they were not involved in the shooting and were not injured," he said. It appears there was a sleepover, he added.

Rand Paul Slams McCain For Stripping NDAA Of Protections

"The decision by the NDAA conference committee, led by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to strip the National Defense Authorization Act of the amendment that protects American citizens against indefinite detention now renders the entire NDAA unconstitutional," Paul said in an emailed statement.
"I voted against NDAA in 2011 because it did not contain the proper constitutional protections. When my Senate colleagues voted to include those protections in the 2012 NDAA through the Feinstein-Lee Amendment last month, I supported this act. But removing those protections now takes us back to square one and does as much violence to the Constitution as last year's NDAA," Paul said.
"When the government can arrest suspects without a warrant, hold them without trial, deny them access to counsel or admission of bail, we have shorn the Bill of Rights of its sanctity."

Oath Keepers to Provide Teachers With Free Self-Defense and Firearms Training

Oath Keepers, a national association of over 20,000 military, police, and first responders, is offering free instruction in self defense, including the use of firearms and other tools of self-defense, to all teachers and school staff in the United States. This initiative is in response to the recent tragic mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. The volunteer instructors will be drawn from the member rolls of Oath Keepers in each state. Those instructors will be paired up with any teachers and school staff in the same state who contact Oath Keepers and request instruction.
The organization pledges to keep their identity confidential, but will also offer group lessons or to come to the school to teach the staff on-site. Topics will include crime awareness and crisis minset training on how to effectively respond (and especially focused on mass-shootings), use of blunt objects and improvised objects for self-defense, use of knives, use of pepper spray, empty-hand defensive tactics (such as are taught in military combatives), and methods of disarming an attacker who is armed with guns or knives, as well as use of firearms. The first responders within the organization are being asked to volunteer to teach emergency first aid for serious trauma, including gunshot and knife wounds.

Court strikes down Illinois concealed carry law

Chicago — In a major victory for gun rights advocates, a federal appeals court on Tuesday struck down a ban on carrying concealed weapons in Illinois — the only remaining state where carrying concealed weapons is entirely illegal — and gave lawmakers 180 days to write a law that legalizes it.
In overturning a lower court decision, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the ban was unconstitutional and suggested a law legalizing concealed carry is long overdue in a state where gun advocates had vowed to challenge the ban on every front.
"There is no suggestion that some unique characteristic of criminal activity in Illinois justifies the state's taking a different approach from the other 49 states," said Judge Richard Posner, who wrote the court's majority opinion. "If the Illinois approach were demonstrably superior, one would expect at least one or two other states to have emulated it."

In 2010, I said in a speech that there had been a CIA coup in this country. The CIA runs the military, the drone program, and they are in drug trafficking. The CIA is a secretive government all on its own. With this new expanded Defense Intelligence Agency presence overseas it will be even worse. Because the DIA is operationally under control of the Pentagon, direct Congressional oversight of the program will be more difficult. Perhaps this is as intended. The CIA will be training the DIA in its facilities to conduct operations overseas. Much of this will include developing targeting data for the president's expanding drone warfare program.
Already the president has demonstrated his preference for ever more drone attacks overseas. In Pakistan, for example, President Obama has in his first four years authorized six times more drone strikes than under all eight years of the Bush Administration. Nearly three thousand individuals have been killed by these drones, many of those non-combatants.
