Sen. Rand Paul Proposes Trio of Bills to Restore Order to Lawmaking

Senator Rand Paul (shown, R-Ky.) has offered three bills designed to fundamentally change the way Congress considers legislation.
The bills — S.1663, Write the Laws Act; S.1664, One Subject at a Time Act; and S.1665, Read the Bills Act — would shine the light of transparency into a process that has become increasingly shady.
Beyond blowing the doors off the back room where votes are bought and sold, the third of Paul's proposals — much to the chagrin of Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) — would require representatives to read the bills they sign.

Drivers Randomly Pulled Over, Asked For Blood & Saliva Samples

Imagine being pulled over for doing nothing wrong — and then being asked for a blood sample.That's what happened to many drivers in Fort Worth, Texas on Friday.
Officials stopped drivers at a roadblock (even though they did nothing wrong), directed each of them to a parking spot, and then asked for breath, saliva, and blood samples.
This was all done in the name of "government research," to figure out how many people were driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this project cost a whopping $7.9 million over the span of three years.

This idea was the cornerstone of the low-fat diet. Because of a few bad studies and misguided political decisions, this diet was recommended to all Americans in the year 1977 (1).
However, there wasn't a single study on this diet at the time. The American public became participants in the largest uncontrolled experiment in history.
This experiment didn't turn out very well and we are still suffering the consequences.
