Texas Deputy Dies Performing No-Knock, No-Announce SWAT Raid For Marijuana
Source: LibertyCrier.com
BURLESON COUNTY, TX — Tragedy struck when police pursued an aggressive no-knock, no-announce SWAT raid on a marijuana user with no history of violence in his record. One deputy was shot when the homeowner picked up a rifle to protect his family from what he thought were home invaders. The officer's life is over and the homeowner will now face trial that could put him in prison for a long time because of a confrontation that never needed to happen.
--The paramilitary team was on a mission to find illegal weeds, and were prepared to kill — or die — to prevent them from growing. They found some: two 6-inch sprouts and some seedlings. Apparently getting those plants off the streets means that the mission was a success.

COMMENT: How completely ridiculous is it that this military-style raid was conducted to capture somebody suspected of using a stolen credit card...seriously?
If I can say one positive thing about this: At least they didn't kill the dog.

Sniper Basics
Source: SHTFplan.com
During the Finnish "Winter War" against the Soviet Union in which they were vastly outnumbered and outgunned, guerrilla tactics, which they called "Motti tactics", were used to excellent effect. The Finnish devastated the Soviets using hit and run attacks, homemade and improvised weapons, and snipers. The most famous of these snipers was Simo Hayha.
Simo was a common farmer with a diminutive stature of only 5 feet 3 inches tall. His shooting prowess was honed as a hunter in the wilderness of Finland. Simo is credited with over 505 (official) kills, including several teams of Soviet counter-snipers sent specifically to eliminate him. These kills were made during less than 100 days of combat, meaning Hayha engaged and destroyed 5 targets per day by himself. Known as the "White Death", Simo would finally be removed from the battlefield by a lucky shot from an explosive tipped rifle round to the face while holding off a Soviet advance; he would wake up later in a Finnish hospital at the very end of the war and die of old age in the year 2002.
Simo Hayha proved once and for all the effectiveness of a single shooter in the face of a more powerful opponent. This kind of attrition warfare stopped the more technologically advanced Russians in their tracks, and ended their pursuit of total invasion. The poorly armed Finish prevailed despite all odds.

US Farmers Abandoning GMO Seeds: "Non-GMO Crops more Productive and Profitable"
Source: GlobalResearch.ca
A growing number of farmers are abandoning genetically modified seeds, but it's not because they are ideologically opposed to the industry.
Simply put, they say non-GMO crops are more productive and profitable.
Modern Farmer magazine discovered that there is a movement among farmers abandoning genetically modified organisms (GMO) because of simple economics.
"We get the same or better yields, and we save money up front," crop consultant and farmer Aaron Bloom said of non-GMO seeds. Bloom has been experimenting with non-GMO seeds for five years and he has discovered that non-GMO is more profitable.
The re-converts to non-GMO seeds are not hippies but conservative Midwestern farmers who are making a business decision, Modern Farmer discovered. They are switching back to natural seed because it is more profitable — not because of any ideology.
"Five years ago the [GMO seeds] worked," said farmer Christ Huegerich, who along with his father planted GMO seeds. "I didn't have corn rootworm because of the Bt gene, and I used less pesticide. Now, the worms are adjusting, and the weeds are resistant. Mother Nature adapts."

US Media Blacks Out New Snowden Interview (Video)
Source: BennSwann.com
This past Sunday eveningformer NSA contractor Edward Snowden sat down for an interview with German television network ARD. The interview has been intentionally blocked from the US public, with virtually no major broadcast news outlets covering this story. In addition, the video has been taken down almost immediately every time it's posted on YouTube.
In contrast, this was treated as a major political event in both print and broadcast media, in Germany, and across much of the world. In the interview, Mr. Snowden lays out a succinct case as to how these domestic surveillance programs undermines and erodes human rights and democratic freedom.
He states that his "breaking point" was "seeing Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, directly lie under oath to Congress" denying the existence of a domestic spying programs while under questioning in March of last year. Mr. Snowden goes on to state that, "The public had a right to know about these programs. The public had a right to know that which the government is doing in its name, and that which the government is doing against the public."

Nullification Movement Grows As States Challenge Federal Power
Source: LibertyCrier.com
Multiple states, including Washington, Arizona, New Hampshire and Tennessee, have introduced legislation that bar state workers from cooperating with the National Security Administration's domestic spy program. Some bills, such as HB1533 in New Hampshire, even make it a Class-A misdemeanor if state employees are caught violating the proposed law.
In other states, such as Montana and Missouri, nullification bills have either been passed or introduced that refuse to recognize gun-control requirements made by the federal government. In 2009, Montana passed the Firearms Freedom Act, which prohibited federal regulations of guns manufactured within the state's borders. A federal appeals court struck down the act in August, citing the commerce clause.
A host of states are challenging President Obama's signature legislative achievement, the Affordable Care Act. Indiana just introduced HB1406, which resists the enforcement of ACA guidelines. The Hoosier State joins South Carolina, Oklahomaand Georgia in doing so.

The NY Times Doesn't Like Me (Highly Recommended)
Source: LewRockwell.com
The New York Times, whistling past the financial graveyard, paused over the weekend to smear the Mises Institute, Ron Paul, our other scholars, hardcore libertarianism, and me. Why? Because our ideas and our youth movement are gaining real traction. It is in effect a compliment. They have never faced opposition like ours before, and Ron Paul's tremendous resonance with young people has only made things worse from the Times's point of view.
The Times wants opponents who play the game, who accept the presuppositions of the regime, and who are willing to confine themselves to the narrow range of debate to which the Times would prefer to confine the American people.
The purpose of articles like the one over the weekend, it should be unnecessary to point out, is not to shed light. It is to demonize and destroy a school of thought that the regime considers threatening.
