The "IMF Riot" - Coming to America?
Source: InfoWars.com
--As respected investigative reporter Greg Palast exposed in 2001, the global banking elite, namely the World Bank and the IMF, have honed a technique that has allowed them to asset-strip numerous other countries in the past – that technique has come to be known at the "IMF riot."

In April 2001, Palast obtained leaked World Bank documents that outlined a four step process on how to loot nations of their wealth and infrastructure, placing control of resources into the hands of the banking elite.

One of the final steps of the process, the "IMF riot," detailed how the elite would plan for mass civil unrest ahead of time that would have the effect of scaring off investors and causing government bankruptcies.

"This economic arson has its bright side – for foreigners, who can then pick off remaining assets at fire sale prices," writes Palast, adding, "A pattern emerges. There are lots of losers but the clear winners seem to be the western banks and US Treasury."

In other words, the banking elite creates the very economic environment – soaring interest rates, spiraling food prices, poverty, lower standards of living – that precipitates civil unrest – and then like a vulture swoops down to devour what remains of the country's assets on the cheap.

We have already seen this process unfold in places like Bolivia, Ecuador, Indonesia, Greece and Argentina. Next on the chopping block are Spain, Italy, Britain and France – all of which have seen widespread riots over the last two years.

Pentagon: Cuts Could Hamper Ability To Invade Countries For No Reason
Source: NewYorker.com
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The spending cuts mandated by the sequester may hamper the United States's ability to invade countries for absolutely no reason, a Pentagon spokesman warned today.

The Pentagon made this gloomy assessment amid widespread fears that the nation's ability to wage totally optional wars based on bogus pretexts may be in peril.

"Historically, the United States has stood ready and able to throw billions of dollars at a military campaign with no clear rationale or well-defined objective," said spokesman Harland Dorrinson. "Our capacity to wage war willy-nilly is now in jeopardy."

The Hidden History of Water Torture
Source: AntiWar.com
--In 1901, an American officer was sentenced to 10 years at hard labor for waterboarding a Filipino prisoner.  By the late 1940s, the centuries-old practice was so reviled that significant prison time or even death lay in store for those using it.  In the late 1960s, it was still viewed as a cruel and unusual punishment, even if U.S. troops who tortured Vietnamese and American captives weren't subject to prosecution for it. In the twenty-first century, as water torture moved from Southeast Asian prison showers to the White House, it also morphed into an "enhanced interrogation technique."  Today, the president's pick to head the CIA refuses even to label waterboarding as "torture."

What does it say about a society when its morals and ethics on the treatment of captives go into reverse? What are we to make of leaders who authorize, promote, or shield such brutal practices or about citizens who stand by and allow them to happen?  What does it mean when torture, already the definition of "cruel," becomes usual?
