Destroy CIA torture evidence, get a promotion?
Source: RT.com
--The acting director, who is allegedly in her 50s and speaks multiple languages, is thought to have served as chief of staff of the former head of the clandestine service, Jose Rodriguez. According to former officials who spoke to the Washington Post, Rodriguez and the woman repeatedly asked for permission to have the videotapes destroyed and were always denied. In 2005, they went ahead with the destruction anyway, ordering their staff to get rid of the evidence.

Despite this questionable decision, the woman now heads the clandestine service herself and may keep the position permanently if the agency decides to overlook her history. The position is crucial to the CIA's operations, since it is in charge of sending American spies overseas. The clandestine service also runs the agency's drone campaign.

--Due to an internal investigation regarding her involvement in the destruction of evidence, it is unclear whether the new director will remain in the position. Recently-appointed CIA head John Brennan, who was sworn into office this month, announced that he is evaluating several candidates for this position with the help of three former agency officers.

When The Global Elite Confiscate Your Money (Recommended)
Source: PrisonPlanet.com
As I wrote about the other day, no bank account, no pension fund, no retirement account and no stock portfolio will be able to be considered 100% safe ever again.

And once the global derivatives casino melts down, there are going to be a lot of major banks that are going to need to be "bailed in".

When that day arrives, they are going to try to come after your money. So don't leave your entire life savings sitting in a single bank...

A stunning situation is unfolding on the island of Cyprus.

Like other countries in Europe, Cyprus is in a debt crisis and is seeking a bailout from European central bankers.

But it is the way the EU and Cyprus government has tried to help pay for the bailout that has the entire world paying attention. Ben Swann breaks this story down in Reality Check.

The Fallibility of "Peer Review"
Source: The-Scientist.com
--According to a recent analysis published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, about 67 percent of 2047 studies retracted from biomedical and life-science journals (as of May 3, 2012) resulted from scientific misconduct. However, the same PNAS study indicated that about 21 percent of the retractions were attributed to a scientific error. This indicates that failures in peer-review led to the publication of studies that shouldn't have passed muster. This relatively low number of studies published in error (ca. 436) might be the tip of a larger iceberg, caused by the unwillingness of the editors to take an action.

Peer review is clearly an imperfect process, to say the least. Shoddy reviewing or reviewers have allowed subpar science into the literature. We hear about some of these oversights when studies are retracted due to "scientific error." Really, the error in these cases lies with reviewers, who should have caught such mistakes or deceptions in their initial review of the research. But journal editors are also to blame for not sufficiently using their powers to retract scientifically erroneous studies.

Family's Home Raided over Facebook Photo of Child's Rifle
Source: Foxnews.com
--"To make someone go through this because he posted a picture of his son with a .22 rifle on his Facebook page is pretty outrageous," he said. "Does that mean that anyone who posts a picture like that has to consent to a home inspection and a gun inspection? I don't think so."

Nappen said they are considering taking legal action against the state for the late night raid.

Organic Awareness is Growing - The Fight for GMO Labeling Continues
Source: Mercola.com
--This is indeed a huge problem, as numerous polls and surveys have shown that otherwise health-conscious Americans do not understand the qualitative difference between organic and so-called "natural" products. Contrary to reality, the majority of consumers believe the "natural" label equates to "almost organic," and many believe the "all-natural" label means a product is better than organic! That's the power of word-association, and these industries are well aware of how the word natural "feels" to consumers who are in the dark about the regulatory differences between the labels... As stated by Cummins:

"This is outrageous, given that organic food and products, by law and by third-party certification, are produced without the use of synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, animal drugs, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), irradiation, nanoparticles, or sewage sludge, whereas so-called 'natural' products are unregulated."
