Short story from Attack The Tax

Attack The Tax

Short Story

A short story to get your mind around what white collared Criminals are capable of.

Let's just say "hypothetically speaking", that you had the unfortunate experience of being robbed/burgled. One day you came home to find that your home had been broken into, and all your cash had been stolen.

The first port of call for most People is probably to An Garda Siochana, wherein you would report the break-in and the robbery. Your next call might be to the insurance company, and then perhaps to your family and or friends. Eventually you might up telling the neighbours and the wider community, in order to spread the word that criminals might be in the area, and to keep an eye out. A sort of warning to everyone, so to speak!

Let's just say that later you tell an old friend whose opinion and wisdom you value. Your friend suggests that you install a burglar alarm and CCTV, and put up one or two signs, warning potential criminals of the consequences of their actions, if they trespass upon your property and or steal something from you.

These would all be reasonable steps to take if you were or are a victim of a Crime, and even if you are not.

Now Imagine This if you will:

Let's just say that a known Criminal, that had previously stolen money from you, wrote to you one day, and put down on paper that he was going to go to your home, on a specific date and time, break into your home and steal your money, and was just writing to you to let you know this, so instead of him having to go to the trouble of going to your home, he wanted you to just send the money to him in the post, as it would save him a lot of bother.

Firstly, you might treat this as a bit of a joke. But then when you get a second notice from the Criminal of the nearing time and date, you might begin to take the matter more seriously. If you were in a congenial mood, you might consider writing back to the Criminal and giving him notice that you do not and will not consent to the trespass or the theft. You might also consider reporting the matter to An Garda Siochana.

Let's just say the day arrives, and so too does the Criminal.

He arrives at your door, brushes you aside and steals your money, despite the fact that you have warned him not to steal from you, and you do not consent to him committing such a heinous Crime, (and in broad daylight). If you then went to An Garda Siochana with a copy of his letters, a copy of your letters, the CCTV footage of the Crime, and all other relevant evidence pertaining to the Crime, would An Garda Siochana have to take your statement and complaint seriously, and generate a Pulse ID Number for you, and commence a FULL and PROPER INVESTIGATION into these Unlawful and Criminal Acts?

We would certainly hope that they would, and that they (An Garda Siochana) would act accordingly under their legal Obligations and Duty of Care to protect Life and Property, and press charges upon the Known Criminal, and prosecute him etc.

If this is so, then for the great many People that have had Money stolen from them by Revenue, and that they did not consent to Revenue stealing it from them, why have very few (if any) People NOT reported this Crime to An Garda Siochana, and NOT directed An Garda Siochana to follow up with a FULL and PROPER INVESTIGATION into these and a great many other Crimes that have been and continue to be committed by Revenue on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis?

The mind boggles …
