Hi Folks ... We have given the digital release of "Irish Life And Me" some considerable thought, and we have decided to follow the Charles Dickens method and model of publication. Charles Dickens in his very early days as a writer, released his stories and novels on a Chapter by Chaper basis. Primarily because no publisher of the day wanted to print (his) works that highlighted issues or conditions surrounding the poor and indigent of society, and secondly because he himself did not have the finances to self-publish. Much to the consternation and abhorrence of the rich and wealthy of the day, this proved for the poor to be very popular, and an effective method and way in which to get his stories read, and his messages understood. The poor mostly could not read anyway, and therefore, because Dickens stories were broken into periodical chapters, those that could read, would read them aloud to others as a form of weekly or periodical entertainment. This encouraged discussion and debate among the poor and the indigent, and educated them to a great extent as to what was really going on around them on both a Micro and Macro level. With this (the Dickens model in mind), we are pleased to announce that you can now go to, download, read and print off the Introduction and Chapter 1 of "Irish Life And Me" today. We are aiming to make a Chapter or so available to you (fr*e), every couple of weeks. Perhaps you the reader would consider arranging and or organising your own group of friends, or community to come together to read the material aloud, and on an ongoing basis? We know from our own experiences, that reading material is one way to learn, hearing it is another even better way, and then discussing it and debating its merits is even better. "Whats more, this story is a true story. The charachters are real and the issues are very relevant today. The book and the material contained therein is very serious, but there is also an element of pathos and humor running throughout the writing".
