acquisition versus inquisition

Critical Reading, Writing and Thinking Tutorials ...

Seven Places Remain | Starts Tuesday 5th. May | Booking - www.Trivium3.eventbrite.com/  | PW: T3

NOBODY EXPECTS AN INQUISITION ... OR DO THEY?

Whilst listening to the populist radio last week;

was intrigued to hear an "eminent psychologist" discussing the nature of Man. His simplistic argument being, that we are born into the world as acquisitive and competitive beings.

In other words, we are by nature prone to acquiring material things, and are by birth inclined towards competing with others in the acquisition of those material things. He was postulating that "by nature/birth we are competitive and excessively interested in acquiring money, and/or material wealth/things".

Nobody (including this writer) bothered to call the station and argue the point either way with the said "eminent psychologist"; which leads me to the logical conclusion, that most listeners probably agreed with his pontification, or they thought him so dumb, there was no point in arguing with the fool.  We suspect the former rather than the latter.

That of course is the problem with listening to populist radio and/or mainstream media broadcasting. When they roll out People that are purported to be "eminent experts" in their fields, most listeners (People) just swallow any stuff that comes out of their mouths. To add weight to their postulations, they usually quote themselves as being highly esteemed professors, associated, affiliated, attending and/or working in some such eminent university etc.

As the old joke goes:-

Q: How would you know someone who(m) had attended Trinity, within the first five minutes of meeting them?

A: They would tell you!

This, as if to say, because they have Degrees, Masters and/or Doctorates coming out of all orifice's, they must know what they are saying and/or talking about. If you are a listener (People), that believes everything the populist media put out, then you are perhaps doing yourself a disservice. Perhaps your desire to reach consensus and avoid confrontation is probably hindering your progress towards, what is called "self-actualisation".

In relation to the above postulation;

"by nature/birth we are competitive and excessively interested in acquiring money, and/or material wealth/things" … was/is the "eminent psychologist" correct and right in making such a bold statement, or was he just another spin doctor?

Based upon your own experience(s) as a Parent, Aunt, Uncle, Grandparent etc., was/were your babies/children competitive and acquisitive the day, or the day after they were born? Are babies competitive and acquisitive, or is that something they learn from their parents, other children, school and society?

Yes babies/children are dependent for warmth, food, shelter and nurturing for basic survival. As these basic needs are satiated, and the baby grows into a child and it slowly gets indoctrinated into society, it gets introduced to competition and acquisition as social constructs. Babies/children brought up in "the jungle" per say, are not prone and exposed to "western social constructs" such as competition and acquisition. Their environment (in most cases) provides sufficient means to survive, and the child is raised in a cooperative (not competitive) based society.

The family/community work together to use and preserve the resources they have about them. It does everyone a disservice, if any one individual claims part of the jungle and/or a tree to be for the sole benefit/use for that individual. Resources are shared and preserved. The children grow up being inquisitive and not acquisitive, which again helps with survival.

HAPPY AS LARRY

When you our readers are listening/watching/reading any material that is put out over the airwaves and/or through the populist media, do you really "Critically Read and/or Think" about what you are being told? … and as stated before; do you prefer to be part of the consensus and avoid confrontation? … If so, then that is grand. As they say, well may you be as happy and content as Larry.

Of course, if you are one of our readers, then you are probably not that happy and/or content with your lot in life, and the perceived problems you may have, and perhaps you don't even know why.

Not to over-simplify this; most People that are operating under stress and/or are angry, find it extremely difficult to reach a place where they can Critically Think through the perceived problems they may be facing. And most People do not know and/or understand that "Critical Thinking" can be broken down as a simple process and learnt by almost any reasonably intelligent Man and/or Woman. Some People take hours to learn the process, some take weeks, months or years. We cannot say how long it may take anyone, but we can explain it within five minutes or two hours depending on who is in front of us. The rest is just practice, patience and persistence.

Obviously we try to keep the process of learning to "Critically Read, Write and Think" within the context of financial, civil, legal and lawful matters. This is a skill that is easily transferable to all walks of life, and is a skill you will have forevermore, presuming of course, you participate in your own rescue, so to speak.

To that end; we invite all those who have already booked, and/or will book one of the seven remaining places on the tutorials, to send in a copy of a letter that you have recently received in relation to an alleged legal/law/debt matter or issue. Rest assured: If we use your letter(s) as part of the Tutorials, we will redact your private information from it.
