CIA Spies On Congress, Blocks Release of Report About Torture For Over A Year
Source: BenSwann.com
The big headline across the country: members of the Senate Intelligence Committee accuse the CIA of undermining the Constitution and spying on them. Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Sen. Dianne Feinstein says the CIA hacked into a computer system designed for Congress in order to monitor an investigation into torture and CIA secret overseas prisons.
"The CIA's search may well have violated the separation of powers principles embodied in the United States Constitution,"Feinstein said. "It may have undermined the constitutional framework essential to effective congressional oversight of intelligence activities."
--Sen. Feinstein is...correct that the CIA must be subject to oversight by Congress and is not above the law. But neither is any other government agency including the NSA which has been spying on every American. Simply because those Americans are not members of Congress does not mean that they are not entitled to privacy. Rightfully, Feinstein has been called out for her hypocrisy by Edward Snowden who points out in a statement to NBC News,
"It's clear the CIA was trying to play 'keep away' with documents relevant to an investigation by their overseers in Congress, and that's a serious constitutional concern, but it's equally if not more concerning that we're seeing another 'Merkel Effect,' where an elected official does not care at all that the rights of millions of ordinary citizens are violated by our spies, but suddenly it's a scandal when a politician finds out the same thing happens to them."

Conn. Cop: I Will Kick Down Doors To Confiscate Guns
Source: StoryLeak.com
UPDATE: Since the release of this article, Branford Police have confirmed that Officer Peterson has been placed on paid leave while an internal investigation is carried out.
A Connecticut man revealed shocking comments made by a Branford police officer this week who has openly defended door-to-door gun confiscation.
After the tragic Sandy Hook shooting in 2012, Conn. lawmakers mandated that all "assault rifles" and "high capacity" magazines be banned, requiring all in circulation to be registered with the state. Fearing the obvious move towards confiscation, the vast majority of gun owners have refused to submit, with estimates finding less than 13 percent of rifles being registered.

Conspiracy Denial

My response to the "Alan Moore" anti-conspiracy image going around Facebook (also posted.)
I should start limiting all my writing to just 150 words. This seems to be what's "in" these days. (And it sure would be a lot easier.)

Why 'Ghostbusters is the most libertarian blockbuster of all time (w/ Video)
Source:WashingtonExaminer.com
After learning the sad news that comedy actor and filmmaker Harold Ramis had died, I remarked on Twitter that the 1984 classic "Ghostbusters" (which he co-wrote and co-starred in) was the most libertarian Hollywood blockbuster ever made. I assumed that this was perfectly clear to everybody and that I was making a non-controversial claim -- even asserting the banal conventional wisdom -- but a number of people evidently didn't see where I was coming from.
To me, it's quite obvious. In "Ghostbusters," paranormal activity is becoming a growing problem in New York City. Government doesn't do anything to stop the problem, so private entrepreneurs set up a small business that successfully captures and stores ghosts — for a fee.

Man escapes 5 year sentence after dash cam footage clears him, indicts cops (with Video)

Evidence from a dashboard camera on a police cruiser ended a nightmare for a New Jersey man facing false charges of eluding police, resisting arrest and assault.
Prosecutors dismissed all the criminal charges against Marcus Jeter, 30, of Bloomfield, N.J. and instead indicted two Bloomfield police officers for falsifying reports and one of them for assault after the recording surfaced showing police officers beating Jeter during a traffic stop, according to WABC of New York. A third has pleaded guilty to tampering.
