| Who or what do People most fear? From the anecdotal information and evidence that we regularly receive, we are always genuinely surprised to read and hear of fear that People seem to have, when it comes to dealing with the Revenue Commissioners (Revenue), and their agents and employees. Predatory Corporations: Over and above all of the predatory corporations out there on the prowl to get their claws into People, it seems that People perceive Revenue to be their worst nightmare. Yes it's true; Revenue are not always easy to deal with. We certainly won't deny that. Having said that, when you learn to engage them in the appropriate manner, they do not seem capable of following through, irrespective of their threats. With your Consent. Revenue's claws are into People in all sorts of ways and guises. If you are an employer, if you are an employee, if you are self-employed, if you own a business, if you are VAT registered etc. etc. etc. You must remember though all of these things are done by and with your consent. Josephine Feehily (Ex-Revenue Commissioner) has famously stated: "In a representative democracy such as Ireland, the State rules by consent and, by extension, taxes by consent". You CAN Withdraw: If what Josephine has said is true, and there is no reason for her to lie is there? Then its stands to reason that People can withdraw that same consent. This is not Rocket Science is it? Steal, Lie and Cheat. Although Banks/Financial Institutions/Debt Collectors/Courts/Legal Representatives/Garda Siochana etc. etc. etc. do use blatant bull-boy tactics, and have and do infringe upon Peoples peace and prosperity, and do steal, lie and cheat, People seem less intimidated to challenge them on the whole. This is Sad. Most People it seems would prefer to write a letter to any of the above, rather than to even contemplate engaging with Revenue in terms of challenging them. This is kind of sad really. More recently; we have had an incident, whereby a Man we know (and respect), did have the effrontery to write to Revenue to challenge the lawful validity of an alleged Debt owed to them. The Sheriff and his Thugs. Rather than engage him legally and lawfully, and furnish him with proof and/or evidence of said alleged Debt, Revenue decided to engage their "Revenue Sheriff". Wherein the said "Revenue Sheriff" turned up at the Man's workplace with two other thugs, and proceeded to intimidate the Man's workforce and family members. No Lawful Court Order! Revenue nor their "Revenue Sheriff" did NOT have a Lawful Court Order in place, but yet in the Man's absence, the "Revenue Sheriff" and his thugs proceeded to threaten the workforce and the Man's family, that they would steal property and also break into the Man's home if cash was not provided immediately. What film(s) scene(s) does this remind you of? An Garda Siochana. The "Revenue Sheriff" and his thugs left; once they were told that An Garda Siochana had been called, and were not seen for dust by the time the Garda Siochana arrived. We cannot imagine the "Revenue Sheriff" and his thugs wanting or wishing to appear again, as the Man and his family and workforce will call An Garda Siochana and have them arrested on the spot if they do. Many questions remain. *** If the alleged Debt was validly owed by the Man, why didn't Revenue go Court and get a Lawful Court Order for same to be enforced? *** How is Revenue able to appoint/instruct/order a "Revenue Sheriff" to steal the property/goods of a Man, wherein no such Lawful Court Order exists? *** Why did the "Revenue Sheriff " and his thugs intimidate and threaten the Man's family and workforce? *** Why did the "Revenue Sheriff" and his thugs demand cash? *** Why did the "Revenue Sheriff" and his thugs do a runner when An Garda Siochana were called? *** Why have the "Revenue Sheriff" and his thugs never returned? Questions Are Unanswered: Obviously we can only guess the answers to these questions; as the "Revenue Sheriff" and his thugs have not addressed and/or answered the legal/lawful questions that the Man and his family have raised, and that have also been addressed and sent to and for the attention of An Garda Siochana. Criminal Charges Pending! Getting Revenue, their "Revenue Sheriff" and their thugs to back off took in the region of three or four letters, none of which have been addressed or answered. No doubt, although Revenue seem to have backed off, they may have well have picked a fight that they will regret, as the Man and his family are so incensed by the barbarity of their actions, and intend to legally and lawfully pursue Revenue, their Sheriff and his thugs. We think this will not end well for Revenue.
