More information and booking available here: www.gds2.eventbrite.com/ Income Tax School: Income Tax Into the Light ... www.ITSchool.eventbrite.com/ Yes we know; the Income Tax discussion/debate is a VERY controversial one, and therefore not a topic that is raised very often on this Island ... and no doubt we will be castigated and berated for bring this touchy subject matter into the light, but into the light it comes ... After all it affects a very large proportion of working People, and Income Tax claims a large chunk of your hard gained wages, salaries, commissions and/or tips. Most of the money that you have left each week gets largely eaten up by vat and whole plethora of other taxes and state charges, that this page is just not big enough or broad enough to cover or list. Were you ever curious about where or how Income Tax originated? ... ... or how it evolved into being the monster that it is? Have you ever been bothered enough by it to go and source, look up and/or read the Taxes Consolidation Acts? No doubt you will have at some stage in your working life had to speak to revenue, and/or had to write, correspond or deal with someone faceless wonder in their office(s)? Has your curiosity ever been peaked enough to seek loopholes in the LAW, that might allow you to pay less Income Tax? As most accountants and tax advisors will say, "its all about tax avoidance, and not tax evasion". Or have you ever been so aggrieved by revenue, that you seriously considered "not giving them another dam thing, so long as you live"? We have probably all have these thoughts, feelings and experiences from time to time with revenue, and most People, truth be know, would pay less Income Tax if they could get away with it. Some would pay no Income Tax at all, if that were possible. We here-tell that the rich and wealthy pay little if any Income Tax, that they get all the breaks, and it is the poor and middle-income earners that pay for everything. This is true, but NOT for the reasons that many wrongly assume. But what exactly is Income Tax? What is it legally defined as? And who Legally is Liable to pay it? Before anyone runs off, trying to dodge the Income Tax Man, perhaps you might consider getting some more information on this topic, so that if you do wish or want to ask the revenue commissioner a couple of key questions about Income Tax, that he or she may not appreciate, and they challenge you, you will have some knowledge on which to fall back on. After all they do say: "A Little Knowledge is a Dangerous Thing". Join us on Monday 5th.
