Decades of Textbook Teaching Overturned: Brain is Linked to Immune System

It's a stunning discovery that overturns decades of textbook teaching: researchers at the School of Medicine have determined that the brain is directly connected to the immune system by vessels previously thought not to exist.
--"I just said one sentence: 'They'll have to rewrite the textbooks.' There has never been a lymphatic system for the central nervous system, and it was very clear from that first singular observation — and they've done many studies since then to bolster the finding — that it will fundamentally change the way people look at the central nervous system's relationship with the immune system," Lee said.
--The unexpected presence of the lymphatic vessels raises a tremendous number of questions that now need answers, both about the workings of the brain and the diseases that plague it. For example, take Alzheimer's disease. "In Alzheimer's, there are accumulations of big protein chunks in the brain," Kipnis said. "We think they may be accumulating in the brain because they're not being efficiently removed by these vessels." He noted that the vessels look different with age, so the role they play in aging is another avenue to explore. And there's an enormous array of other neurological diseases, from autism to multiple sclerosis, that must be reconsidered in light of the presence of something science insisted did not exist.

COMMENT: So think about that for a minute...all the way up until the 21stcentury, this connection was completely unknown to science (and, along with it, all of the potential implications regarding its effect on our health).
If the relatively simple (and ancient) process of mapping the human body can still reveal unexpected structures, imagine what might still be unknown about the FAR MORE complex synergistic effects of mass vaccinating a young / developing immune system. Those who suggest that the "science is settled" on this issue (especially when we know how "science" can and has been manipulated), are being ridiculous.

Beware Americans Bearing Gifts: NGOs as Trojan Horses

--If you're watching the newswires closely enough, you'll start to notice a pattern:
Kyrgyzstan has just stripped USAID of its special privileges in their country.
And Russia has just officially declared the National Endowment for Democracy to be an undesirable NGO in the territory of Russia.
And China has just introduced a Foreign NGO Management Law that will require overseas NGOs to register with the government and have their activities more closely monitored.
And in 2013, Bolivia kicked USAID out of the country with Ecuador following suit later the same year.
And earlier this year the Indian government added the Ford Foundation to a security watch list and will hold all payments from the fund for approval before disbursements are made.
What on earth is going on? Why are all of these countries (including 3 of the 5 BRICS members and other countries in 2D geopolitical conflict with the US) kicking out all of these US-based nongovernmental and quasi-governmental entities? Why would they be opposed to charity and aid?

Edward Snowden Sped Up Spread of Encryption by 7 Years

--"As a result of the Snowden revelations, the onset of commercial encryption has accelerated by seven years," James Clapper said during a breakfast for journalists hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.
The shortened timeline has had "a profound effect on our ability to collect, particularly against terrorists," he said.
When pressed by The Intercept to explain his figure, Clapper said it came from the National Security Agency. "The projected growth maturation and installation of commercially available encryption — what they had forecasted for seven years ahead, three years ago, was accelerated to now, because of the revelation of the leaks."
Asked if that was a good thing, leading to better protection for American consumers from the arms race of hackers constantly trying to penetrate software worldwide, Clapper answered no.
"From our standpoint, it's not … it's not a good thing," he said.

Killing Civilians: Drone Whistleblowers Step Out of the Shadows

--Kennebeck's interviewees are among at least a dozen whistleblowers who have stepped forward, or are preparing to do so, in order to denounce Washington's drone wars as morally unjustified, as in fact nightmares both for those who fight them and those living in the lands that are on the receiving end. The realities of the day-in, day-out war they fought for years were, as they tell it, deeply destructive and filled with collateral damage of every sort. Worse yet, drone operators turn out to have little real idea about, and almost no confirmation of, whom exactly they've blown away.
"It's so primitive, raw, stripped-down death. This is real. It's not a joke," says Heather, an imagery analyst whose job was to look at the streaming video coming in from drones over war zones and interpret the grainy images for senior commanders in the kill chain.
"You see someone die because you said it was okay to kill them. I was always shaking. Sometimes I would just go to the bathroom and just sit on the toilet. I mean just sit there in my uniform and just cry."
Advocates of drone war believe, as do many of its critics, that it minimizes casualties. These Air Force veterans have, however, stepped forward to tell us that such claims simply aren't true. In a study of what can be known about drone killings, the human rights group Reprieve has confirmed this reality vividly, finding that, in Pakistan, in attempts to take out 41 men, American drones actually killed an estimated 1,147 people (while not all of the 41 targeted figures even died). In other words, this hasn't proved to be a war on terror, but a war of terror, a reality the drone whistleblowers confirm.
--Like Heather, Daniel has so far survived his own drone-war-induced mental health issues, but in his post-drone life he's run into a formidable enemy: the U.S. government. On August 8, 2014, he estimates that as many as 50 Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided his house, seizing documents and his electronics.
"The government suspects that he is a source of information about the [drone] program that the government doesn't want out there," says Jesselyn Radack, his lawyer and herself a former Department of Justice whistleblower. "To me, that's simply an attempt to silence whistleblowers, and it doesn't surprise me that that happens to the very few people who have been brave enough to speak out against the drone program."

COMMENT: The best part for me is watching people finally realize how incredibly corrupt the so-called "democratic process" is. The Establishment Republicans will continue doing everything they can to block Trump (even if it means a Hillary victory) and the Establishment Democrats will use every dirty trick in the book to give Hillary the advantage. Those of us who supported Ron Paul watched them change rules, lie and smear on a grand scale. Now, everyone else is getting to see it for themselves. I think it's good for the country.

What Did Fed Chairman Yellen Tell Obama?

This week, President Obama and Vice President Biden held a hastily arranged secret meeting with Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen. According to the one paragraph statement released by the White House following the meeting, Yellen, Obama, and Biden simply "exchanged notes" about the economy and the progress of financial reform. Because the meeting was held behind closed doors, the American people have no way of knowing what else the three might have discussed.
Yellen's secret meeting at the White House followed an emergency secret Federal Reserve Board meeting. The Fed then held another secret meeting to discuss bank reform. These secret meetings come on the heels of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's estimate that first quarter GDP growth was .01 percent, dangerously close to the official definition of recession.
Thus the real reason for all these secret meetings could be a panic that the Fed's eight year explosion of money creation has not just failed to revive the economy, but is about to cause another major market meltdown.
