FINAL SCHOOL FOR 2015 www.reta.eventbrite.com/ Have you heard of the "Agentic State"?   It is the state in which certain People operate in, when doing certain kinds of tasks or jobs. These tasks or jobs, require a type of person that does not wish or want to think for themselves. The type of person that will likely say; "just doing my job" or "it's policy" … You know the type.   When someone says to you "I am just doing my job" they are operating in an Agentic State. They see themselves as mere instruments for implementing the wishes of a perceived higher authority. Therefore they cannot be held liable (in their own minds), for their actions, since they are "just doing their job". The Agentic State has led to the deaths of Millions and Millions of People all over the world.   I was only following orders … The Agentic State is far more commonplace, than you may imagine. Most People will adopt an Agentic State when faced with anything that may challenge the smooth functioning of their perceived role, even if that means, their continued role harms, hurts or even means death to another.   Should you decide to critically challenge, lets say of Revenue or the Tax Man, you will inevitably have to engage with persons that are operating in an Agentic State. We say persons, because they are not processing their thinking independent of their higher authority. It can be very difficult, if not impossible to get through the persona they have assumed, for their higher authority.   Listen to the following recordings, and judge for yourself when the Agentic State kicks in. It's a very interesting thing to observe. As much as it is frustrating for the persona at the other end, sometimes you will feel like you are banging your head off a brick wall. But don't let that put you off.
